Local press coverage—by the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald—includes moving video of our clergy and parishioners reaching out to busy commuters at the Metra station this morning to share the message of God’s love on this Ash Wednesday. It is so important that we realize that God loves us unconditionally. Imagine what our world would be like if we knew deep in our hearts that God loves every human being and lived fully in that abundant love with each other.

Celebrating God’s love for all
Seeking to embody Christ in the World
Wednesday, June 29 – 8:00pm
Our Muslim brothers and sisters have invited us to share with them in a special evening during the holy season of Ramadan.
Please join us at 8pm at the Islamic Education Center in Glendale Heights for prayers and a feast. In order to be respectful of our hosts’ customs and traditions, modest dress for both men and women is appropriate. Women may cover their heads with a scarf if they desire, but it is not expected. You may wear your St. Simon’s t-shirt if you have one. The Islamic Education Center is located at 1269 Goodrich Avenue in Glendale Heights, IL.
For those of you who have already registered for the Feed My Starving Children portion of the evening, that will begin at 6pm. The address for Feed My Starving Children is 1072 National Parkway in Schaumburg.
We are called to be in communion with all of God’s children and joining this special evening is a meaningful way to do just that. We began building relationships with them by inviting them to join us last February and continued with our Going Deeper series on Islam, but now we have the opportunity to receive their hospitality and to deepen the bonds between us.
On Sunday, January 31 more than 15 members of the Children of Abraham Coalition joined us for the 10:00am service, shared fellowship with us and led a special Going Deeper Forum. The Moulana Mehboob Mehdi Abidi from The Islamic Education Center in Glendale Heights led the forum, sharing with us insights into Islam and answering questions. Watch the forum video here. Over 100 people were blessed by the powerful encounter. We look forward to continuing to deepen the relationships.
Joy and celebration
The energy in the Parish Hall was joy-filled as we celebrated 2015 and announced officially that we are able to fund a second full-time priest! There was much good news to share, including the founding of the St. Simon’s Legacy Society under the leadership of Bob Arnold. This link contains videos of the main presentation, the Room at the Table video and the Rector’s Address.
