The Youth Group will be hosting our Pet Blessing and Hot Dog Supper as we put the ‘Feast’ in the Feast of St. Francis. So bring all your four-legged friends as we celebrate the furry members of the St. Simon’s community. Following the the Pet Blessing, please stay to enjoy a Hot Dog Supper.
New this year is a Youth Group experience specifically for upper elementary students—those in grades 4-6. This group will meet monthly for an outing, activity or project. Parents will work together to select and schedule events with the assistance of Cleo Nykol and Jo Gantzer.
Youth Group is back! Every Sunday evening begin-ning September 10, youth in grades 7-12 gather for an evening together full of meaningful conversation, sacred space, and of course, a TON of fun!
Members of the Youth Group Staff are Carl Raezer, Associate for Music & Youth, Eric Hauth, Allision Salisbury and Julie Wood.
Our “Seekers” program exploring confirmation is open to youth grades 7-12 who feel they are ready to go deeper into what it means to follow the way of Jesus. This year the program will be made up of a trinity of components: participation in Sunday evening Youth Group, serving during the liturgy, and sessions in the spring exploring what it means to confirm the vows made on our behalf at our baptism.
“If youth aren’t leading, they’re leaving.” Peer Ministry Leadership is both a model for youth ministry as well as a curriculum, which provides resources to equip teens with skills for welcoming, listening, and helping their peers. Our youth staff has been trained in leading the program by Chad Senuta, Associate for Youth and Campus Ministry for the diocese and we’re very excited to empower the youth of St. Simon’s to be leaders for each other and for the church!
